Château Lafleur

Château Lafleur is one of Pomerol's rarest and most sought-after wineries and is considered the epitome of precision, complexity, and terroir authenticity. The estate, which covers just 4.5 hectares and has been family-owned for generations, distinguishes itself from many other Pomerol châteaux with its exceptional grape variety composition: approximately half of the wine is Merlot, the other half Cabernet Franc – a defining factor in its distinctive structure, depth, and longevity.

The vineyards are cultivated with the utmost care, close to nature, and with minimal intervention to optimally reflect the unique terroir with its gravelly, clayey soil. The old vines produce low yields, resulting in highly concentrated, profound wines.

The vinification follows an uncompromising philosophy: spontaneous fermentation with natural yeasts, prolonged maceration for maximum extraction, and gentle aging in French oak with a moderate proportion of new oak. Château Lafleur is known for its immense structure, mineral depth, and precise tannin management. The wines are often closed in their youth, but with age they develop an impressive complexity with aromas of dark fruits, graphite, violets, truffles, and tobacco.

Lafleur has exceptional aging potential. Great vintages often require 20 to 30 years to reach their full potential, and when they do, they are among the greatest wines in the world. It is a wine of pure intensity, reflecting the essence of Pomerol in its most concentrated form.
