Estremadura is the largest wine-growing region in Portugal in terms of area and stretches along a long stretch of coast along the Atlantic Ocean north of Lisbon. The wines in the eleven sub-regions of Estremadura are created by the climatic influences of the Atlantic. Since 2009, the wine region has also been referred to as "Lisboa". It is best known for its light white wines and fruity red wines.
