Region of Ribera del Duero
The wine-growing region in northern Spain covers 23,000 hectares of vineyards. The region is named after the river Duero, which flows through the entire area. The majority of the vines here, however, are up to 1,000 meters above sea level. Due to the barren highland climate, the wines achieve an unmistakable finesse. The region is known for its high-priced and high-quality red wines. The world-famous Vega Sicilia wine is considered Spain's national wine and is also popular far beyond the country's borders.
