Together with the neighboring state of Washington, Oregon is the northernmost wine-growing region in the USA. The vineyards are concentrated in the area between the two mountain ranges, the Coast Range and the Cascade Range. With a share of around 50 percent, Pinot Noir is the dominant variety in Oregon. Other important vines are Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer, Pinot Gris, Merlot and Sauvignon Blanc.
