Château Batailley
The history of Château Batailley dates back to the 17th century. The estate was first acquired in 1852 by the owners of Château Borie-Manoux and has remained in the Manoux family ever since. The estate has a long tradition of wine production and is known for its cultural significance in the region.
Château Batailley is located in the renowned Pauillac appellation, famous for its premium red wines. The vineyards cover approximately 57 hectares and are planted primarily with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and small portions of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The location in Pauillac is particularly favorable for growing grapes of the highest quality.
The vineyards of Château Batailley benefit from an exceptional terroir characterized by gravelly soils. These soils offer excellent drainage and promote grape ripening, resulting in wines of remarkable concentration and complexity. Château Batailley's wines are known for their power, structure, and finesse. They are classic representatives of Pauillac wines and are characterized by aromas of dark fruit, cassis, tobacco, cedar wood, and fine tannins. These wines have the potential to evolve and age beautifully over time.
Château Batailley was included in the official Bordeaux Classification, which ranks the region's finest wineries according to their quality, in 1855. The estate was awarded the status of Cinquième Grand Cru Classé, making it one of the most prestigious wineries in the Médoc.
The Borie-Manoux family has dedicated generations to preserving and promoting the traditions and quality of Château Batailley. Their commitment to sustainable viticulture and winemaking practices is reflected in the outstanding quality of their wines.
