Montevertine

Montevertine

The Montevertine winery was founded in 1967 by Sergio Manetti. This happened at a time when many producers in the Chianti region were beginning to incorporate international grape varieties such as Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon into their wines. However, Sergio Manetti chose to focus on the traditional grape varieties Sangiovese, Canaiolo, and Colorino, giving the wines an authentic Chianti character.

The heart of Montevertine's wine production is "Le Pergole Torte," a single-varietal Sangiovese wine of exceptional quality. Made from grapes from the estate's oldest vines, this wine is considered one of Italy's finest single-vineyard wines. Winemaking is traditional, and the wine is aged in large oak barrels to preserve its authentic character. The Chianti Classico tradition has always been respected, and Sergio Manetti was a staunch advocate of using Sangiovese grapes without blending other varieties. His vision was to produce wines that reflect the terroir and unique characteristics of the Montevertine vineyard.

Montevertine symbolizes the preservation of traditional wine culture and the emphasis on the Sangiovese grape as the heart of Chianti Classico. This winery's wines are appreciated by wine lovers worldwide and are an excellent example of the exceptional qualities that can be produced in this region of Tuscany.
