Puglia region
Apulia is internationally one of the lesser-known growing regions of Italy. However, with a cultivation area of around 100,000 hectares, the region on the country's "boot heel" is one of the largest wine-growing regions in the country with a very long tradition. The Greeks were already growing wine here in the 6th century BC. Due to its diverse landscape, Apulia produces a wide range of wines. The grape varieties Negroamaro, Primitivo di Manduria, Castel del Monte and Salice Salentino are particularly well known.
