Domain Marc Colin

As a discerning sommelier or restaurateur, do you generally only offer your guests wines from upscale gastronomy? Or are you one of those passionate gourmets who like to have one or two fine wines in stock at home?
Then the fine products of the Domaine Marc Colin from France prove to be an excellent choice for you.

Finesse is at the heart of the exquisite wines from St. Aubin, Santenay and other superlative regions. A flawless purity, multi-faceted minerality and impressive longevity are further hallmarks of the noble red and white wines. The French winery is now run by the children of the founder Marc Colin, who continue their father's life's work with the same passion and dedication.

Domaine Marc Colin: a glimpse into history

The successful domaine started when it was founded by Marc Colin in the 1970s. Together with his wife Michèle, he took over the plots, some of which had belonged to the Colin and Ponavoy families for centuries. One of the special achievements is the constant expansion of the winery, starting with the cultivation of around six hectares of vines in the communities of St. Aubin and Chassagne-Montrachet.

The Marc Colin domain in St Aubin is now managed by Joseph, Caroline and Damien, the children of the former owner and founder. Specifically, it is an operation with around 20 hectares, which are divided into 30 appellations, 25 of them for white wines.

Regular expert tillage of the soil prevents the emergence of chemical weeds and ensures impeccable quality of the grapes.

Weingut Marc Colin: growing area, special features and more

As a growing region with a long history, France ranks at the top of the world. Here the fertile soil, together with other natural treasures, forms a productive symbiosis with the experience, know-how, sophistication and undivided dedication of the winegrowers.

The products of the Colin winery distinguish themselves from the competition, among other things, through the economical use of new wood. Minerality, the subtle differences in the soil and a natural freshness are the focus here. The wines also owe their flavorful finesse to the vines, which are up to 90 years old.

Wines from the Colin family of winemakers

Annual production averages 200,000 bottles. The clear weighting with around 70 percent is on white wine. Against this background, it is not surprising that the winery has made a name for itself as one of the best white wine producers in the region around the Côte de Beaune. The growing area extends to fertile sites in Corton-Charlemagne, Batard-Montrachet, Santenay, Chassagne and Grands Crus Montrachet.

The vines from Sankt Aubin's twelve Premier Cru sites deserve special attention.

In a nutshell, the winegrowers owe the high quality of their products to an advantageous combination of old vines, clay-limestone soils and sustainable and organic agriculture. The open-minded management style of the current owners, which allows for new achievements alongside traditional elements, also contributes to the exclusivity of the end products.

In summary, this means that the noble whites offer incomparable freshness, while the reds will delight you with their silky texture and full-bodied fruitiness spiced with a hint of oak. Beaune Cuvée Dames des Hospitalières (red wine) and Meursault-Genevrières Cuvée Baudot (white wine) are just a few examples.
