Saale-Unstrut is the northernmost German wine region. With a vineyard area of ​​only around 800 hectares, it is one of the smallest growing areas in Germany. The area is named after the two rivers Saale and Unstrut and is located on the border of Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia. The Saale-Unstrut area impresses above all with charming vineyards with dry stone walls, vineyard cottages and medieval castles. The two most important grape varieties are Müller-Thurgau and Pinot Blanc.
