Baden region
Baden is the southernmost wine-growing region in Germany and, with a vineyard area of around 16,000 hectares, the third-largest wine-growing region in the Federal Republic. Due to its large geographical extent, it is also the most diverse German growing area. It extends over around 400 kilometers from Lake Constance along the Upper Rhine Plain via the Badische Bergstraße and the Kraichgau to Tauberfranken. The various areas of the wine-growing region are quite different in terms of climate and landscape, which is why the Baden region has a very wide range of wines. It is best known for its Burgundy varieties, which thrive particularly well in the region's above-average climate.
