The Domaine Faiveley is a truly exceptional winery. Located in Nuits St. Georges in the heart of Bourgogne, it has been producing fine, top-class wines for decades. In addition, the winegrowers can refer to a long and impressive history. Today the estate cultivates a total area of 120 hectares, primarily Grand, Cru and Premiere Cru sites. On the history of Domaine Faiveley

The Domaine Faiveley was founded almost 200 years ago in 1825 by Pierre Faiveley as a wine trading house right in the heart of Bourgogne, which is also known as Burgundy in Germany. Faiveley was originally a trained shoemaker and pursued this craft until the 1840s, when he concentrated entirely on the wine business. He bottled excellent cask wines of high quality and sold them under the domain name. Trade alone, however, was soon no longer enough. Finally, in 1873, Pierre's son, Joseph Faiveley, bought several vineyards in the region between Beaune and Dijon and began growing wine and becoming a winemaker himself. Among the sites that he acquired at the time was the monopoly site of Corton Clos des Cortons. This was a great grand cru located in the heart of the legendary and well-known Corton vineyard. Luckily, at the end of the 19th century, the domaine also survived the great phylloxera plague in France, which killed a number of vineyards at the time. In 1911, the new owner, François Faiveley, acquired an extensive parcel of land in the Clos Vougeot grand cru site, which produces outstanding Burgundies to this day. François' son Georges finally took over the company in the problematic 1920s and from then on successfully led it through the crises of the following years. Georges Faiveley is still considered one of the great wine legends of Bourgogne. In 2004, Eve Faiveley became the first woman to assume a senior role at the company. Today she runs the domain together with her brother Erwan.

The Domaine Faiveley in the present

Together, Eve and Erwan Faiveley rely on top-quality Burgundy. They produce great Pinot and Chardonnay wines year after year that are world-class. The Domaine Faiveley is currently considered an outstanding wine producer, which has a number of excellent locations. One of the best known of these is the Domaine Faiveley Mercurey site. On average, a site covers only one hectare. The low yields ensure rare, globally sought-after wines full of elegance and character. Great attention is paid to the work in the vineyard throughout the domaine. Organic farming has been practiced for a number of years, with the aim of preserving the uniqueness of the vineyards such as Domaine Faiveley Mercurey over a long period of time. In the wine cellar, on the other hand, the owners attach great importance to the combination of tradition and modern technology. Their goal is to always maintain a timeless style that reflects the character of the Burgundy growing region. The Domaine Faiveley is therefore one of the lighthouses in the cultivation area and in the whole country. It stands for excellent rarities that you can enjoy yourself or are also suitable as a worthwhile investment.
