Domaine Jean Grivot

Domaine Jean Grivot is one of the leading wineries in the Côte de Nuits, producing Pinot Noir of the utmost precision and depth. Based in Vosne-Romanée, the estate boasts approximately 15 hectares of prime vineyards, including renowned Premier Crus and Grand Crus. Of particular note are Richebourg Grand Cru, known for its exceptional power and density; Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru, which displays both structure and finesse depending on the vintage; and the iconic Premier Crus of Vosne-Romanée, such as Les Beaux Monts and Aux Brûlées, which impress with their complexity and elegance.

Vineyard work follows a sustainable philosophy, with intensive manual labor and strict selection. The vines are on average over 40 years old and produce concentrated, profound wines. The harvest is carried out manually, with rigorous selection both in the vineyard and on sorting tables in the cellar. Fermentation takes place with natural yeasts and a carefully balanced proportion of whole-bunch grapes to preserve structure and aromatic complexity.

The wines are aged in French oak barrels with a new wood content of between 30 and 50%, depending on the appellation and the vintage. The wines are characterized by dense, dark fruit, often with notes of black cherries, cassis, and spices, accompanied by fine minerality and perfectly integrated wood. The tannins are present but polished, and the acid structure lends freshness and longevity. Often powerful and reserved in their youth, they develop fascinating depth and elegance with age. Great vintages require at least 10–15 years to develop their full potential. Domaine Jean Grivot stands for structured, terroir-focused Pinot Noir with impressive longevity and is one of the region's outstanding producers.
