Corsica region
The largest French Mediterranean island offers excellent climatic conditions for winegrowing, which is why the roots of winegrowing on the island go back to the 6th century BC. Today, around 10,000 hectares of Corsica are under vines, which can only be cultivated near the coast due to the rising terrain inland. With a share of around 90 percent, red and rosé wines from local varieties such as Nielluccio and Sciaccarello or southern French grapes such as Carigan, Cinsaut or Grenache dominate.
