Loire region
The Loire is not only the longest and probably the most picturesque river in France. On its 1,000-kilometer journey from the Massif Central to its mouth in the Atlantic, the river is accompanied almost continuously by vineyards. Accordingly, the Vallée de Loire wine-growing region with an area of 70,000 hectares is one of the largest wine regions in France. Due to its large geographical extent, the Loire region is one of the most diverse growing areas in the country. A wide variety of red, rosé, white and sparkling wines are made here.
