Parker about Cabernet Sauvignon 1995
The 1995 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa is a beautifully made wine that comes close to being outstanding. It boasts a textbook cassis and eucalyptus-scented nose with oak in the background. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, with excellent ripeness, clean fruit, and a long, spicy finish. It avoids some of the vintage's hard tannins. Mondavi is adding a number of new regionally labeled Cabernet Sauvignons to their portfolio. In addition to their Oakville cuvee, they have a Stags Leap District Cabernet, and a single vineyard wine from their famous To-Kalon plantation.

Cabernet Sauvignon 1995

Robert Mondavi's 1995 Cabernet Sauvignon is a classic Napa Valley wine that combines elegance, structure, and depth. On the nose, it displays complex aromas of ripe cherries, black currants, and plums, underscored by subtle notes of cedar, vanilla, and tobacco, hinting at oak barrel aging. On the palate, the wine presents a rich, smooth texture, with dark fruits, spices, and hints of bitter chocolate harmoniously balanced. Well-integrated tannins ensure a long, velvety structure, while fine acidity imbues the wine with freshness. The Reserve version of this vintage, in particular, stands out for its greater concentration and deeper complexity, with aging potential that extends beyond decades. With over 25 years of aging, Robert Mondavi's 1995 Cabernet Sauvignon has reached or slightly exceeded its peak, making it an excellent choice for lovers of aged California wines.
