Parker about Château Pavie 1983
Now reaching full maturity, the 1983 Pavie has an attractive bouquet of rich raspberry and plummy fruit intermingled with the scents of new oak and herbs. The color is still medium dark ruby, but some amber has crept in at the edge. On the palate, the wine is crammed with rich, opulent, expansive, red fruit flavors, but has enough acidity and tannin to give it grip and focus. This is a surprisingly drinkable, exuberantly styled Pavie that should continue to evolve for at least another 10-15 years.

Château Pavie 1983

The 1983 Château Pavie comes from the Saint-Émilion appellation of the same name in the Bordeaux region. The Château Pavie winery is known for its high-quality Bordeaux wines that combine power and elegance. The 1983 vintage was good overall, but not considered a top-quality vintage.
In color, the Château Pavie 1983 is a deep ruby red with light orange highlights, indicating its maturity and development. On the nose, it presents aromas of ripe red fruits such as cherries and plums, along with hints of dried herbs and a touch of spice. The aromas are overall more subtle and less intense compared to great vintages.
On the palate, the Château Pavie 1983 displays a medium to full-bodied structure with soft, well-integrated tannins. The fruit aromas continue, accompanied by notes of cedarwood, tobacco, and a hint of leather. The acidity is balanced, giving the wine freshness, while the finish is medium-length, allowing notes of fruit and spice to linger pleasantly.

Information about the winemaker:
The history of this winery dates back to Roman times, and it's fascinating to consider how many generations of winemakers have shaped this heritage. In the 19th century, the château experienced a rebirth under the leadership of Ferdinand Bouffard, who transformed it into a respected winemaking center. However, it was the Perse family, who took over the property in the 1950s, who initiated a remarkable transformation that led it to its current glory.
