Parker about Château Lafite Rothschild 2022
In bottle, the 2022 Lafite Rothschild has turned out even better than I anticipated. Wafting from the glass with aromas of sweet red berries, minty blackcurrants, violets and cigar box, it's medium to full-bodied, velvety and suave, with a deep, enveloping core of lively fruit, beautifully refined tannins, and a long, perfumed finish. Even at this early stage, it's remarkably integrated and harmonious, and it's certainly the most elegant of the first growths this year, reminding me of a modern-day version of Lafite's magical 1953.

Suckling over Château Lafite Rothschild 2022
A benchmark modern Lafite showing tobacco, orange peel, cedar, pencil shavings, violets and cigar box—so perfumed. Medium-bodied with lots of graphite, stone and hints of redcurrants on the palate. It goes on for minutes. Reminds me of Lafites that I loved made decades ago. Could be the great 1986. A blend of 94% cabernet sauvignon, 5% merlot and 1% petit verdot. Best after 2030 but already fascinating.

Château Lafite Rothschild 2022

Château Lafite Rothschild 2022 is a prime example of the exceptional quality and refinement of this iconic winery. The wine presents itself with a deep, almost impenetrable color and unfolds a captivating bouquet of black currants, cassis, ripe plums, and floral notes of violets. Added to this are complex aromas of cedarwood, graphite, tobacco, and fine minerality, typical of the Pauillac terroir. On the palate, the 2022 vintage presents itself with remarkable freshness and precision. The tannins are fine and elegant, yet powerful and well-structured, giving the wine remarkable longevity. The acidity is perfectly integrated and provides the necessary tension and balance. The minerality and subtle spicy notes add depth and complexity to the wine. The finish is incredibly long and elegant, characterized by a sophisticated spiciness that lingers long after the finish.
