The La Borne Riesling Alte Reben 2023 from Weingut Wittmann is a rarity from Rheinhessen that uniquely reflects the terroir. The grapes come from vines over 60 years old, growing on barren limestone soils. In the glass, the wine presents a brilliant golden yellow with greenish reflections. The nose unfolds a complex interplay of aromas of ripe yellow fruits such as peach and apricot, accompanied by citrus notes of lime and grapefruit. Mineral hints of flint and chalk, as well as a subtle herbal spice, add additional depth. On the palate, the wine impresses with a powerful and precise structure, supported by a lively yet perfectly integrated acidity. The pronounced salty minerality and enormous length underscore its origins. The finish is characterized by fine fruit and chalky freshness, indicating great aging potential.
