Parker über Brunello di Montalcino Greppo Annata 2003

From a scorching hot vintage, the 2003 Brunello di Montalcino has held up beautifully, tasted now more than a decade after its commercial release. The wine shows some tertiary definition that adds to its character and complexity. You get subtle hints of caramel and exotic spice over dried blackberry and fig. The heat of the vintage can be identified in terms of mouthfeel, where the wine delivers a loosely knit textural core with polished, silky tannins. But that trademark acidity is there, and that remains the secret of the wine's impressive longevity.

Brunello di Montalcino Greppo Annata 2003

Biondi-Santi Brunello di Montalcino Greppo Annata

It is rare that the origin of a wine can be traced back to a single man. However, Brunello di Montalcino owes its existence to the inventiveness of Clemente Santi and his nephew Ferruccio Biondi-Santi, who began to vinify Sangiovese Grosso in its purest form in Montalcino in the 1900s.
Since 1888, the first Brunello vintage in history, Biondi-Santi has been producing wines known for their elegance and exceptional longevity.
