Parker about Brunello di Montalcino Greppo Riserva 1997
This older release is paired with the 2011 Riserva in a special packaging effort now proposed by the new management team at Tenuta Greppo. The Biondi-Santi 1997 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva was never previously reviewed; Therefore, I am very excited to add an official record of this stunning wine to our database. This vintage delivers structure and age-worthy intensity that should carry it forward successfully for more years ahead. However, if you decide to pop the cork now, rest assured that this excellent Brunello has now entered its prime drinking window. The bouquet is polished and fine, with wild fruit aromas that segue to balsam herb and licorice. The finish is long and extremely polished. This is a real beauty.

Brunello di Montalcino Greppo Riserva 1997

The 1997 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva from Biondi Santi is a wine that reflects the characteristics of the vintage and the winery's expertise. This Riserva vintage is characterized by a balanced and mature aromatic palette.
On the nose, the wine presents notes of dried red fruits, ripe cherries, and a subtle plum sweetness. These aromas are complemented by subtle elements of leather, spice, and a hint of truffle, lending the bouquet a certain complexity.
On the palate, the Brunello di Montalcino Riserva 1997 displays a solid structure with silky tannins. The fruit flavors harmonize well with moderate acidity, and nuances of vanilla, chocolate, and spicy elements contribute to a well-rounded flavor profile.
This wine represents not only a vintage, but also Biondi Santi's consistent commitment to quality. It is suitable for connoisseurs who appreciate the unpretentious elegance and artisanal precision of a historic winery.
