Parker about Ornellaia 2005
The medium-bodied 2005 Ornellaia shows plenty of delineation in its dark cherries, blueberries, spices, minerals and crushed rocks. The 2005 doesn't have the detail of the 2004 or the richness of the 2006, but it does offer notable finesse and clarity in an understated style for this wine. My impression is that this will be a relatively early-maturing vintage of Ornellaia, which is not a bad thing, considering the age-worthiness of the two vintages which surround it. In 2005 Ornellaia is 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot, 14% Cabernet Franc and 4% Petit Verdot. It is a great success in this vintage.

Ornellaia 2005

Tenuta dell'Ornellaia is a prestigious winery in Tuscany, Italy, known for its premium wines. One of the notable wines from their range is the Ornellaia 2005.
The Ornellaia 2005 is a complex and expressive red wine made from a careful blend of grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. These grapes are hand-harvested and undergo precise vinification to highlight the characteristic qualities of the terroir and the grapes.
In the glass, the Ornellaia 2005 presents itself in a deep, dark ruby red color. On the nose, it unfolds a complex spectrum of aromas characterized by ripe dark fruits such as black cherries, blackberries, and cassis. These are complemented by subtle notes of spices, tobacco, and dark chocolate.
On the palate, the 2005 Ornellaia impresses with impressive structure and depth. It is full-bodied with silky tannins and well-integrated acidity. The rich fruit flavors continue, accompanied by nuances of roasted coffee and fine oak.
The 2005 Ornellaia is a wine of great elegance and complexity. It has excellent aging potential and can be enjoyed both in its youth and, after several years of bottle aging, develop even greater complexity and finesse.
This wine goes perfectly with hearty meat dishes such as beef fillet or roast lamb, but also with mature cheeses.
