Parker about Château Latour Les Forts 2004

The estate's second wine continues to go from strength to strength. The 2004 Forts de Latour (includes 75% Cabernet Sauvignon) reveals a deep ruby/purple hue, classic evolved cedary, lead pencil, and cassis characteristics, medium body, beautiful sweetness of fruit, and a more forward, evolved character than its big sibling. Enjoy it over the next 15+ years.

Produktbeschreibung

Château Latour Les Forts 2004

The 2004 Château Latour Les Forts is an impressive wine from the renowned Bordeaux estate Château Latour, which is world-renowned for its outstanding wines. Les Forts de Latour is the estate's second wine, but it is in no way inferior to many of its first wines and enjoys a high reputation. The 2004 vintage reveals itself as a classic Bordeaux with excellent structure and depth.

In the glass, the wine reveals a deep, dense ruby red, indicating its youthfulness and concentration. The bouquet is complex and multi-layered, with a harmonious interplay of aromas. Dominant notes of black currants, ripe plums, and dark cherries are accompanied by subtle nuances of cedarwood, tobacco, and graphite. Subtle hints of spice and a mineral freshness add further complexity to the wine.

On the palate, Les Forts 2004 is powerful yet elegant. The tannins are ripe and well-integrated, giving the wine a firm structure yet a silky texture. The fruit flavors continue on the palate, accompanied by lively acidity that lends the wine freshness and balance. Notes of dark chocolate, licorice, and a hint of vanilla round out the flavor profile. The finish is long and persistent, characterized by a fine minerality and a hint of oak, which adds additional depth and complexity to the wine.
