Parker about Château Montrose 2020
Surpassing the 2019 and rivaling the 2016 as this estate's finest vintage of the last few decades, the 2020 Montrose is a monument in the making. Wafting from the glass with aromas of violets, dark berries, licorice, loamy soil, black truffle and subtle spices, it's full-bodied, deep and layered, with a seamless, elegantly muscular profile, terrific purity and energy, beautifully powdery tannins and a long, resonant finish. It checks in at 13.7% alcohol, the same as the superb 2009, but it is even deeper, more vibrant and more complex than the 2009. This will be worth a special effort to seek out and only confirms Montrose's status as one of the contemporary Médoc's leading estates and a de facto first growth.

Château Montrose 2020

The 2020 Château Montrose is an outstanding Bordeaux wine made from a carefully selected blend of grape varieties. This blend is primarily composed of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, with Cabernet Sauvignon accounting for the largest proportion.
On the nose, the Château Montrose 2020 presents an enticing array of aromas. Notes of dark berries such as cassis and blackberries mingle with ripe cherries and juicy plums. These fruit aromas are rich and intense, yet balanced. They are accompanied by delicate nuances of cedarwood, tobacco, and a subtle hint of vanilla, which come from aging in high-quality oak barrels.
On the palate, the wine is impressively structured and full-bodied. The silky texture caresses the mouth and conveys a pleasant feeling of finesse. The fruit aromas continue, accompanied by subtle spice notes such as black pepper and cloves. A subtle minerality lends the wine additional complexity and depth. The tannins are present but well-integrated, giving the wine a solid foundation and excellent ageing potential.
The finish of Château Montrose 2020 is remarkably long and intense. A subtle hint of dark chocolate rounds off the tasting experience, while a touch of black truffle adds an intriguing additional dimension.
This wine is an ideal complement to sophisticated meat dishes, such as a succulent beef fillet or tender lamb chops. Its balanced structure and depth allow it to age and develop its flavors for many years to come.
The 2020 Château Montrose is undoubtedly an outstanding wine of exceptional quality. With its harmonious combination of fruit, structure, and finesse, it embodies the best of what the Bordeaux region has to offer and will delight discerning wine connoisseurs across the board.
