Parker about Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru 2014
Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting, Leflaive's 2014 Chevalier Montrachet Grand Cru has a compelling bouquet that is full of flint and wet limestone scents, a subtle marine influence (seaweed and cockle shells perhaps?) filtering through with aeration. The palate is very well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, precise and very saline, fanning out with immense precision and poise on the finish. This is one of the standout wines of the vintage.

Suckling over Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru 2014
Very fresh with tons of citrus blossom, candied lemon and fine vanilla oak. Very focused and pretty concentrated with racy acidity that drives this along at a brisk clip, the stony minerality building at the very long, cool and complex finish. What a change of style for this world-famous domaine. Reminds me of their wines from the 1970s and early 1980s when they were young. From biodynamically grown grapes.

Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru 2014

Domaine Leflaive's Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru 2014 has excellent aging potential. While approachable in its youth due to its balanced acidity and rich fruit profile, it will gain even more complexity and depth with 10-15 years of cellar aging and under optimal conditions.
This wine pairs perfectly with rich fish dishes like lobster or scallops, creamy poultry dishes, and fine cheeses like aged Comté or Gruyère. Its complexity also makes it a wonderful companion to refined dishes that emphasize delicate flavors and textures. Overall, Domaine Leflaive's Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru 2014 is an outstanding example of what this prestigious vineyard can produce: a wine of remarkable elegance, complexity, and longevity.
Domaine Leflaive
Information about the winemaker:
Domaine Leflaive is one of the most famous wineries in Burgundy. The history of the domaine can be traced back centuries, but Joseph Leflaive is said to be the actual founder of today's winery. Shortly after the end of the First World War, he had to cope with the bankruptcy of his steelworks and decided to return to his homeland in Burgundy in order to continue the winemaking tradition of his ancestors and to expand his winery.
