Parker about Château Angelus 2022
The 2022 Angélus has turned out beautifully in bottle, reflecting the estate's shift towards a livelier, more integrated style. Wafting from the glass with aromas of sweet cherries, blackberries and mulberries mingled with rose petals and violets, it's full-bodied, velvety and concentrated, with a deep, enveloping core of succulent fruit, integrated tannins and a long, perfumed finish. It was bottled in the last week of July 2024.

Suckling over Château Angelus 2022
So many beautiful primary fruit aromas. Al dente. Peaches. Very floral. Aromatic. Full-bodied and extremely fine tannins with length and beauty that show incredible depth. Superb brightness and reality. Exciting. Cabernet franc freshness and dynamics come through now, even though the blend is 60% merlot and 40% cabernet franc.

Château Angelus 2022

Château Angélus 2022 is a striking expression of refinement and intensity, capturing the essence of its exceptional terroir in Saint-Émilion. The bouquet is exceptionally complex and powerful, with deep aromas of ripe blackcurrants, blackberries, and juicy plums. The fruit is accompanied by floral nuances such as violets and a hint of iris, underscoring the wine's elegance. Subtle notes of roasted coffee, dark chocolate, cedarwood, and a delicate touch of spice add additional depth and complexity.
On the palate, the 2022 vintage presents a near-perfect balance of density and finesse. The tannins are ripe, supple, and exceptionally fine, lending the wine structure and length. Lively acidity and mineral notes, influenced by the calcareous soils, provide freshness and precision. The fruit is lush and juicy, accompanied by subtle spicy and slightly smoky nuances that lend the wine complexity and richness.
The finish is remarkably long and persistent, carried by an impressive harmony of fruit, spice, and minerality. Château Angélus 2022 combines the power and depth of a great Saint-Émilion with an unmistakable elegance that is characteristic of the château. A wine of exceptional quality that will delight both young and gain in complexity and expressiveness with age over the decades.
