Parker about Château Guiraud (0.375L) 2002
Tasted as part of a vertical hero at the chateau. The 2002 Guiraud is more reticent on the nose than the 2001 with aromas of peach skin, lime pith and wax resin, although the definition is very fine. The palate is fresh and vital on the entry with crisp acidity, plenty of fresh mango and quince flavors. It does not possess the harmony of the 2001, but the finish exudes clarity and precision that dares outshine the previous vintage. Excellent. Drink 2015-2030+ Tasted April 2013.

Château Guiraud (0.375L) 2002

Château Guiraud 2002 presents itself as a classic Sauternes with a deep golden, almost amber robe, indicating advanced maturity. The nose unfolds a complex bouquet of candied apricots, ripe peach, honey, and caramel, accompanied by subtle notes of saffron, toasted nuts, and a hint of cedarwood. On the palate, the wine reveals a perfect balance between sweetness and lively acidity, lending it freshness and structure. The botrytis characteristic is prominent, lending the wine a silky texture and intensifying the aromas of dried fruit, orange blossom, and noble spice. Despite its age, it displays remarkable vitality, which culminates in a long, elegant finish with subtle hints of vanilla and candied citrus fruits. A classic representative of its vintage, it has reached its drinking maturity but still promises further years of development.
