Parker about Château La Tour Blanche (0.375L) 2003
Ex-chateau bottle tasted blind in Sauternes. The La Tour Blanche '03 offers yellow flowers, melted candle wax and honey on the nose with Muscat-like aromas developing in the glass. The palate is well-balanced on the entry with lemon curd and honey notes, although it needs just a little more acidity to give it tension and freshness. The finish is quite linear, springs no surprises, and just drifts a little when you seek more tautness and race. Still, this is a pleasurable, if not profound, La Tour Blanche.

Château La Tour Blanche (0.375L) 2003

The Château La Tour Blanche 2003 is a magnificent Sauternes from a very warm vintage, which lends it a special richness and ripe aromas. The glass radiates a deep golden yellow and entices with an intense aroma of ripe peaches, candied pineapple, honey, and delicate orange blossom. A hint of vanilla and caramel complements the complex bouquet and adds additional depth.
On the palate, the 2003 Château La Tour Blanche displays its characteristic opulence and sweetness. Ripe fruit and rich honey notes harmonize perfectly with a delicate interplay of acidity, lending the wine freshness and balance. The palate is dominated by a palette of tropical fruits, orange marmalade, and lightly caramelized almonds, giving the wine a velvety, luxurious character. The finish is powerful and long-lasting, leaving a round, elegant mouthfeel.
An excellent accompaniment to desserts like crème brûlée, mature blue cheese, or as the crowning finale of a special meal. The Château La Tour Blanche 2003 impresses both in its youth and after extended aging, and will continue to evolve with age. A remarkable wine that perfectly embodies the beauty of Sauternes wines.
