Parker about Château Rieussec (0.375L) 1999
Tasted at an off-line lunch at La Trompette. The Rieussec 1999 has a lovely, vibrant nose with notes of grapefruit, Japanese yuzu and wild honey all with fine delineation and that vanilla-tinged patina one often finds with this estate. The palate is well balanced with a vibrant entry: attractive notes of white peach and honeycomb, leading to a very harmonious, waxy texture finish. This is an impressive off-vintage Rieussec drinking perfectly now, although it has the weight to keep. Tasted June 2011.

Château Rieussec (0.375L) 1999

The Château Rieussec 1999 captivates with its brilliant golden color and displays the elegance of a mature Sauternes. The bouquet is lush and complex, with notes of dried apricots, acacia honey, and exotic fruits such as pineapple and mango. A hint of vanilla and subtle spices adds depth and a warm spiciness to the fragrance.
On the palate, the 1999 vintage presents a beautiful balance between luscious sweetness and lively acidity. The aromas of candied fruit and honey are intense and envelop the palate, while a subtle mineral note provides freshness. The finish is long and persistent, carried by fruity and spicy nuances that lend it a pleasant, slightly silky character.
This vintage pairs perfectly with desserts made with white chocolate or fine cheeses like Roquefort. The 1999 Château Rieussec is at its optimum drinking maturity and can be enjoyed now, but will retain its harmonious profile with further aging.
