Parker about Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Kabinett 2023
The 2023 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Kabinett is deep, pure, fresh and slatey on the precise, coolish and also floral nose. Mouth-filling, rich and dense on the palate, this is a round and juicy, very mineral, stimulating, savory and saline wine with fine, stimulating grip and an aromatic, well-structured and relatively dry finish. This is excellent and stylish in its terroir expression. 8.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in January 2025.

Suckling over Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Kabinett 2023
Super elegant and super delicate, with ravishing aromas of honeysuckle, white peaches and Asian pears, this is a very sophisticated and polished wine for this category. Incredibly refreshing, but also incredibly silky on the light-bodied palate. Then comes the extremely long and precise finish in which floral and wet-stone elements are almost perfectly interwoven. Drink or hold.

Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Kabinett 2023

The Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Kabinett 2023 from Joh. Jos. Prüm embodies the essence of a classic Mosel Kabinett with incomparable elegance and finesse. The nose opens with a seductive bouquet of white blossoms, juicy peach, ripe apricot, and delicate citrus notes, underpinned by a characteristic slate minerality that provides freshness and depth. On the palate, the wine presents a prancing lightness and a perfect interplay of fine residual sweetness and precise, racy acidity. The fruit is crystal-clear and juicy, with hints of mirabelle plum, lime, and a touch of herbal spice, while the fine minerality provides additional grip. The finish is long, finely nuanced, and characterized by an almost weightless elegance, making this one of the Mosel's greatest Kabinett Rieslings. A wine with enormous aging potential, it already presents itself with impressive freshness but will continue to gain complexity over the coming decades.
