Alta Malbec 2021

The Catena Zapata Alta Malbec 2021 is a premium wine from Argentina's renowned Mendoza wine region, specifically from one of the country's most renowned wineries, Catena Zapata. This single-varietal Malbec comes from select sites in high-altitude vineyards in the Andes, particularly Paraje Altamira and Gualtallary in the Uco Valley subregion. The altitude (around 1,000 to 1,500 meters) and the unique terroir, characterized by calcareous soils and cool nighttime temperatures, produce wines of great depth, structure, and elegance.
In the glass, the Catena Zapata Alta Malbec 2021 displays a deep purple to almost black color. The aromas are intense and complex, with notes of dark berries, ripe plums, violets, and hints of chocolate and vanilla, which come from aging in French oak barrels. On the palate, it is powerful and concentrated, yet well-balanced, with a fresh acidity that brings vibrancy to the wine. The tannins are silky and firm, giving the Malbec a pleasant mouthfeel and a long, lingering finish.
