Parker about Barbaresco Vigneto Starderi 1997
The 1997 Barbaresco-La Spinetta Vigneto Starderi boasts a dark plum/purple color in addition to full body, great fruit, concentration, and power, but it is firm and closed compared to its siblings. There is plenty of potential, but this wine needs 4-5 years of cellaring. It should keep for two decades.

Barbaresco Vigneto Starderi 1997

The 1997 Barbaresco Vigneto Starderi from La Spinetta is a remarkable expression of the Barbaresco style and an excellent example of the craftsmanship of Giorgio Rivetti and his winery. 1997 was an outstanding year for Piedmont, producing wines with great structure, complexity, and aging potential.
This Barbaresco is made from the finest Nebbiolo grapes from the Starderi vineyard, one of the most prestigious crus in Barbaresco. After more than 25 years of aging, the wine has developed remarkable maturity, elegantly preserving its original vigor and freshness. The nose opens with an intense bouquet of ripe cherries, dried rose petals, wild berries, and plums, accompanied by complex hints of tobacco, leather, black pepper, and delicate balsamic notes. Subtle aromas of spices and tar, typical of the Nebbiolo grape, are also present.
On the palate, the Starderi 1997 displays a remarkable balance between fresh acidity and ripe, well-integrated tannins . The texture is silky yet structured, with refined depth and complexity. Aromas of dark fruits and spices blend with mineral notes and hints of truffle and herbs. The finish is long and elegant, with a delicate, almost saline note that reflects the Barbaresco terroir.
