Parker about Château Cos D'Estournel 2003
Harvest finished this year on September 25. The 2003 Cos d'Estournel is a blend of 68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Franc. It has a deep garnet-brick color and quite an herbal nose with notions of dried Mediterranean herbs and roasted meats over a core of crème de cassis, stewed plums and unsmoked cigars plus a touch of new leather. Full, rich, concentrated and decadent in the mouth, the palate, although medium-bodied, packs a wallop of fruit with plenty of earthy/savory accents and an herbal lift to the finish.

Château Cos D'Estournel 2003

Château Cos d'Estournel 2003 is a wine that, despite the challenges of the vintage, impressively expresses the characteristic elegance and structure of its terroir in the Saint-Estèphe region of Bordeaux.
On the nose, this wine presents a rich palette of aromas. Aromas of dark fruits such as cassis, blackberries, and black cherries are accompanied by spicy notes of cedarwood, tobacco, and a hint of vanilla. Despite the heat and dryness of the vintage, the wine still displays a certain complexity and intensity.
On the palate, Château Cos d'Estournel 2003 reveals impressive richness and structure. The tannins are ripe and well-integrated, resulting in a smooth texture. The fruit flavors are opulent and generous, accompanied by a gentle acidity that lends the wine freshness and balance. Nuances of dark chocolate, dried herbs, and a hint of leather add complexity and further refinement.
The finish is long and powerful, with remarkable depth and intensity. Château Cos d'Estournel 2003 may not be one of the winery's classic vintages, but it still offers an impressive drinking experience and demonstrates the winery's ability to produce outstanding wines even in challenging years.
