Parker about Château Figeac 1981

The 1981 Figeac is a viable wine that exhibits some of the estate's telltale signatures, but it doesn't number among the top successes of the vintage. Exhibiting aromas of dried berries, cigar wrapper, loamy soil and black truffle, it's medium-bodied, with largely melted tannins and initially assertive acids that integrate with an hour or two in the decanter. While this isn't a profound Figeac, it does improve considerably with aeration; so, that's warmly recommended to get the best out of it.

Produktbeschreibung

Château Figeac 1981

Château Figeac 1981 is a wine that impressively combines the subtle refinement of its terroir in the Saint-Émilion region of Bordeaux with the particularities of the vintage.

On the nose, this wine presents a tantalizing array of aromas. Aromas of red fruits such as juicy cherries and ripe strawberries are accompanied by gentle notes of tobacco, undergrowth, and a hint of licorice. Despite the challenges of the vintage, the aroma displays a certain elegance and complexity.

On the palate, Château Figeac 1981 presents a medium body and a fine structure. The tannins are soft and well-integrated, resulting in a silky texture. The fruit flavors are balanced and harmonious, accompanied by a gentle acidity that adds freshness to the wine. Nuances of spice and a hint of leather contribute to the complexity and lend the wine additional finesse.

The finish is persistent and elegant, with a gentle finish. Château Figeac 1981 may not be one of the winery's legendary vintages, but it still offers an appealing and balanced drinking experience that subtly captures the characteristics of its terroir and vintage.
