Parker about Château La Mission Haut-Brion 2000

One of the wines of the vintage, the 2000 has barely budged in its evolution since it was bottled and released in 2002. After ten years in bottle, it still reveals a dense opaque purple color along with a potentially sensational bouquet of blueberries, black currants, graphite, asphalt and background oak. Extremely powerful, full-bodied and superbly concentrated with good acidity and high but round tannins, this massive La Mission-Haut-Brion should take its place among this estate's most hallowed vintages when it hits full maturity in another one to two decades. I was surprised by just how youthful this wine tasted at age 12. If tasted blind, I would have guessed it to be around 4 to 5 years old. Anticipated maturity: 2020-2050.

Produktbeschreibung

Château La Mission Haut-Brion 2000

Château La Mission Haut-Brion 2000 is a remarkable wine that captures the essence of its vintage with exceptional elegance and depth. One of the top wines from the Pessac-Léognan region, it demonstrates an impressive balance between fruitiness, structure, and complexity.

The wine presents itself in a deep, dark ruby red with garnet reflections, reflecting its concentration and maturity. The bouquet is intense and complex, with aromas of ripe blackcurrants, blackberries, and plums, accompanied by delicate notes of cedarwood, tobacco, leather, and a hint of graphite. Subtle hints of spices such as cinnamon and cloves, as well as a light smoky note, round out the complex aromatic profile.

On the palate, the wine presents an impressive structure and silky tannins. The fruit aromas of black berries are distinctive and are complemented by hints of dark chocolate, coffee, and mineral notes. The acidity is well integrated, lending the wine remarkable freshness and vibrancy.

The finish is long and elegant, with lingering fruit and subtle spicy notes that delight the palate long after the last sip. The harmonious balance between fruit, tannin, and acidity demonstrates this wine's enormous potential for long-term aging.

Château La Mission Haut-Brion 2000 is already a pleasure to drink now, but also shows great potential for further aging and development over the coming years. A wine of exceptional refinement and beauty, it captures the essence of the Pessac-Léognan region in every bottle and delights wine lovers around the world.
