Parker about Château Le Bon Pasteur 2005

A beautiful wine from Dany and Michel Rolland, this 2005 is surprisingly concentrated and powerful – more so than usual. Deep ruby/purple, with plenty of black cherry and cassis fruit, licorice and a touch of caramel, this wine is still full, youthful, and set for another 15-20 years of longevity. This is a beauty and one of their strongest efforts in the first decade of the 21st century. For a terroir considered well among Pomerol's superstars, this wine is a major overachiever.

Suckling Punkte 96

Suckling over Château Le Bon Pasteur 2005

Fresh and firm with dark berry, dark chocolate and walnut aromas and flavors. Full and very racy. Needs time to come together. Better in 2020.

Produktbeschreibung

Château Le Bon Pasteur 2005

The 2005 Château Le Bon Pasteur is an exquisite wine from the Pomerol appellation in the Bordeaux region, known for its elegant and powerful red wines. 2005 was an outstanding vintage, producing wines of exceptional quality and longevity.

On the nose, the Château Le Bon Pasteur 2005 unfolds a rich and complex bouquet. The aromas are intense and multi-layered, with notes of ripe black cherries, plums, and cassis. These fruit aromas are complemented by subtle nuances of violet, truffle, vanilla, and a hint of mocha, indicating the careful aging in French oak barrels.

On the palate, the wine is powerful yet wonderfully balanced. The ripe fruit aromas continue, accompanied by silky tannins and lively acidity. This gives the wine impressive structure and depth. In addition to the dominant fruit notes, hints of chocolate, tobacco, and spice are also present, harmoniously rounding off the flavor and providing additional complexity.

The finish is long and elegant, characterized by a fine balance between fruit, acidity, and tannins. These characteristics indicate considerable aging potential, allowing the wine to gain complexity and finesse over many years.

The Château Le Bon Pasteur 2005 is an outstanding representative of its appellation and is suitable for both immediate consumption and long-term cellaring. It pairs perfectly with fine meat dishes such as lamb, beef, and game, as well as with aged cheeses. This wine is an excellent choice for special occasions and will find a place of honor in any discerning wine collection.
