Parker about Château Lynch Bages (0.375l) 2002
The 2002 Lynch-Bages is showing brilliantly, after a four-hour double decant, wafting from the glass with an utterly classic nose of cassis and loamy soil mingled with hints of cedar and oak vanillin. Medium to full-bodied, concentrated and layered, with plenty of rich, powdery tannins and lively acids, as its structure begins to melt, the wine's depth and length is becoming more and more apparent. Like the best examples of this vintage, the 2002 Lynch-Bages has proven a real sleeper.

Château Lynch Bages (0.375l) 2002

Château Lynch-Bages 2002 is a classic Bordeaux wine from the Pauillac appellation, produced in a challenging vintage. The 2002 vintage in Bordeaux was characterized by cooler and rainy weather, resulting in wines that emphasize finesse rather than pure power.
The wine displays a deep ruby red color, fading slightly to garnet at the edges, indicating its aging. The bouquet unfolds elegant aromas of black currants, dark cherries, and cassis, accompanied by subtle notes of cedarwood, tobacco, and a fine mineral note typical of Pauillac. Oak aging has imparted delicate nuances of vanilla, spices, and a hint of smoke, further refining the aromas.
On the palate, the 2002 Lynch-Bages is medium-bodied and well-balanced, with fine-grained tannins that lend the wine a pleasant structure. The fruit flavors are harmonious and well-integrated, supported by a lively acidity that lends the wine freshness and elegant balance. In the background, notes of chocolate, dried herbs, and a hint of earth develop, lending the wine additional complexity.
The finish is medium to long, with an elegant combination of fruit and wood notes that linger gently on the palate. The 2002 vintage is now in a very good drinking window and shows pleasant maturity, although it could also age for a few more years in the cellar.
Château Lynch-Bages 2002 is a wine that embodies the classic elegance and restraint of Pauillac. It is an excellent accompaniment to refined dishes such as lamb, veal, or aged cheeses, offering a stylish and balanced drinking experience for lovers of classic Bordeaux wines.
