Parker about Château Rieussec (0.375l) 2003

Ex-chateau bottle tasted blind in Sauternes. The Rieussec '03 has a strong Barsac like aromas – marmalade, quince, vanilla and coconut aromas that unfold nicely in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with a ripe candied, orange peel and dried mango entry. The oak, always a little more prominent at this address, is nicely integrated and the acidity well-judged, although it does not fan out as I was hoping it would on the finish. This is a fine Rieussec, although not in the same class as other vintages. Drink now-2024. Tasted April 2013.

Suckling over Château Rieussec (0.375l) 2003

This is big and powerful with a dense and very sweet palate. Full of botrytis and spices, from cinnamon to cloves to nutmeg. The finish is nutty with more spices and orange peel. Very stunning. Why wait? This has a slight dried grape character from the hot vintage. 151 grams of RS.

Produktbeschreibung

Château Rieussec (0.375l) 2003

The 1995 Château Rieussec is an impressive sweet wine from the Sauternes appellation in the Bordeaux region of France. As a Premier Cru Classé, Château Rieussec is known for its first-class and highly rated wines, which are consistently among the best in the region. The 1995 vintage is an excellent example of this winery's quality and refinement.

In the glass, the Château Rieussec 1995 reveals a brilliant golden color, indicative of its maturity and concentration. The bouquet is rich and seductive, with intense aromas of dried apricots, peaches, and candied citrus fruits. Added to this are notes of honey, flowers, and a subtle spice derived from aging in oak barrels. Subtle hints of vanilla and caramel complement the complex aroma profile.

On the palate, the Château Rieussec 1995 reveals itself as complex and balanced. The wine's sweet opulence is superbly balanced by lively acidity, lending it freshness and structure. The texture is velvety and rich, with aromas of ripe fruit, honey, and spice offering impressive depth and complexity. The finish is long and elegant, with a pleasant mineral note that harmoniously rounds off the tasting experience.

The 1995 Château Rieussec is already in its optimal drinking window, but also has the potential to develop positively for many years to come. Its versatility makes it an excellent accompaniment to a variety of desserts, especially those with fruit and nuts, as well as foie gras and strong blue cheese.
