Parker about Domaine de l'A 2003
From Stephane Derenoncourt's personal estate, this gorgeous 2003 has aged fabulously well, proving his talent and belief in this south-facing, hillside vineyard planted in clay and limestone soils. Yields were only 15 hectoliters per hectare, and the final blend was 60% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon. This sleeper of the vintage boasts a dark ruby/purple color, round, juicy, caramelized black currant and cherry fruit notes and hints of truffles and camphor in the background. An opulent, fleshy beauty that hit 13.8% natural alcohol, it should continue to drink well for another 3-4 years.
