Graacher Himmelreich Riesling Spätlese 2023

The Graacher Himmelreich Riesling Spätlese 2023 from Joh. Jos. Prüm presents itself in a brilliant light gold with youthful reflections and reveals a captivating, finely nuanced bouquet. Juicy aromas of white peach, ripe apricot, and honeydew melon unfold on the nose, accompanied by subtle citrus notes, floral accents, and the typical smoky, mineral slate spice of the Graacher terroir. On the palate, this Spätlese wine displays a perfect balance of elegant fruit sweetness and vibrant acidity, providing freshness, precision, and an almost weightless lightness. The fruit remains clear and brilliant, with nuances of candied lime, juicy pear, and a hint of tropical exoticism, while the fine minerality adds additional depth. The finish is long, complex, and carried by a saline freshness that whets the appetite for the next sip. An impressive Kabinett-like late harvest Riesling with enormous ageing potential, which will delight with brilliance in its youth and will gain in finesse and complexity over the decades.
