Parker about Masseto 2008
The 2008 Masseto is another huge wine. It boasts tons of energy in a tense, inward style I can only describe as implosive, as if the wine is holding back all of its energy. A deep core of black fruit, grilled herbs, licorice and new leather emerges from time to time, but the tannins are still imposing. There is no shortage of pedigree. I fully expect the 2008 to develop into one of the great Massetos. Needless to say, it will be interesting to taste the 2008 in vertical tastings in the future.

Masseto 2008

In color, this wine presents itself in a deep, impenetrable purple red, which indicates its concentration and depth.
The bouquet of the Tenuta Dell'Ornellaia Masseto 2008 is fascinating and complex. It unfolds intense aromas of dark fruits such as black cherries, blackberries, and cassis, accompanied by notes of spices, tobacco, chocolate, and a subtle mineral nuance. These aromas are harmoniously interwoven, giving the wine an impressive range of aromas.
On the palate, the Masseto 2008 presents a perfect balance of power and elegance. The tannins are silky and well-integrated, and the lively acidity lends the wine freshness and vibrancy. Flavors of ripe dark fruit, spice, and fine oak unfold on the tongue, leading to a long, lingering finish.
