Ockfener Bockstein Riesling Spätlese 2023

The Ockfener Bockstein Riesling Spätlese 2023 from Van Volxem comes from one of the most renowned vineyards on the Mosel. The steep slopes of the Bockstein, characterized by weathered slate and a unique microclimate, provide ideal conditions for Riesling cultivation. This Spätlese wine is characterized by a delicate balance between fruity sweetness and lively acidity. Aromas of ripe peach, apricot, and citrus fruits combine with floral notes and a distinctive minerality typical of the slate soils. The wine has a moderate alcohol content and impresses with its freshness and complexity. It displays beautiful harmony, especially when young, but also has great aging potential.

Information about the winemaker:
The van Volxem winery is located in the Moselle wine-growing region, more precisely in the Saar wine region. It is only thirteen kilometers from Trier in the municipality of Wiltingen and is internationally known for its dry Riesling wines. Since the takeover by the owner Roman Niewodniczanski in 2000, the winery has continued the legendary tradition of Saar wines of the 19th and 20th centuries. Weingut van Volxem is home to some of the oldest steep slopes in the history of viticulture.
