Parker about Saarburg Rausch Riesling Grand Cru 2023
The 2023 Rausch GG is deep, pure, fresh and mineral on the intense, highly elegant and subtly citric as well as herbal nose. Full-bodied, dense and refined on the palate yet firmly and persistently structured, this is a rich and complex yet always pure, saline and mineral intoxication that bears great complexity and mineral tension yet should be cellared for at least another five years. 12% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in August 2024.

Suckling over Saarburg Rausch Riesling Grand Cru 2023
Extremely youthful and as pristine as an alpine meadow through which flows a stream. Stunning concentration on the barely medium-bodied palate. The most delicate apricot aroma, too. You could spend hours studying all the filigree details of this Saar dry riesling masterpiece. Extremely long and focused wet-stone finish. Drink or hold.Extremely youthful and as pristine as an alpine meadow through which flows a stream. Stunning concentration on the barely medium-bodied palate. The most delicate apricot aroma, too. Saarburg Rausch Riesling Grand Cru 2023

The Saarburger Rausch Riesling Großes Gewächs 2023 from the Forstmeister Geltz Zilliken winery is a prime example of the refinement and radiance of great Saar Rieslings. The nose unfolds with a complex bouquet of white peach, candied citrus peel, ripe Williams pear, and floral notes of white blossoms, underscored by a profound, smoky slate minerality. On the palate, the wine presents a fascinating combination of powerful, juicy fruit, vibrant acidity, and salty minerality. The cool, precise structure lends it impressive elegance, while the fine phenolics and subtle reduction provide additional tension. The mouthfeel is both taut and silky, with remarkable length accompanied by an almost chalky minerality and a delicate bitterness. This Riesling already demonstrates great class in its youth, but will gain further complexity and depth with several years of bottle aging. An impressive Grosses Gewächs from the legendary Saarburger Rausch vineyard, which masterfully reflects Zilliken's signature.
