Parker about Chardonnay Reserve 2019
Vinified in barriques (new to three years old) and 500-liter oak barrels, Gesine's 2019 Chardonnay Réserve exhibits intense and elegant Chardonnay fruit intertwined with fine oak and mineral aromas of crushed stones. Tight and still with firm (oak) tannins on the palate, this is a fresh, round, refined and elegant Chardonnay with a long and vital as well as remarkably salty, tight-knit finish that is, however, still dominated by the oak influence but undoubtedly promising. I'd cellar this wine for four or five years at least. Bottled in July this year. Tasted in August 2021.

Suckling over Chardonnay Reserve 2019
A powerful and concentrated chardonnay, although it has quite a sleek silhouette. There are a lot of positive aspects to this wine, not least the chalky minerality and drive at the lemon-zest finish. Drink or hold.

Chardonnay Reserve 2019

The idea behind Weedenborn's Chardonnay Réserve is a Burgundian take on a Chardonnay.
It is rather elegant, mineral, has a delicate wood spice, and offers good aging potential. An overwhelmingly aromatic nose evokes notes of quince, yellow peach, passion fruit, and light vanilla. On the palate, aromas of ripe pear, biscuit, and mint are evident.
Expansion
It was fermented spontaneously and aged on the full lees in new oak for 18 months. It was then bottled unfiltered.
