Parker about Château Kirwan 2000
Still somewhat tannic but very much in the style that Kirwan has favored over recent vintages, this is a full-bodied, muscular, powerhouse effort. The wine still has a dense ruby/purple color, with loads of blackberries, cassis, and some noticeable new oak still lingering in the background. Powerful, rich, and full, this wine needs another 2-3 years of cellaring and should age nicely for another 20 years.

Suckling over Château Kirwan 2000
Great nose of dark fruit, fresh tobacco and hints of licorice and cedar. Leather. Full body, extremely fine and polished. Lasts for minutes. Drink now or hold. A wine to enjoy for years ahead.

Château Kirwan 2000

Château Kirwan 2000 is a remarkable wine from the prestigious Margaux appellation in the Bordeaux region of France. As a Third Growth (Troisième Cru) according to the Bordeaux Classification of 1855, this winery enjoys an outstanding reputation. The 2000 vintage is considered one of the finest in Bordeaux history, and Château Kirwan 2000 reflects this. On the nose, the wine unfolds an intense bouquet of black currants, cherries, and plums, complemented by subtle notes of cedarwood, tobacco, and spices. On the palate, it displays impressive structure with ripe, well-integrated tannins, lively acidity, and remarkable depth. The finish is long and complex, with lingering aromas of dark fruits and a hint of chocolate.
Château Kirwan 2000 has the potential to age and develop over many years. This vintage is now at an excellent drinking stage, but with optimal storage (consistently cool and dark), it can continue to age for several more decades. Decanting the wine for at least one hour before consumption is recommended to bring out its full aromas and structure.
This elegant and complex wine pairs perfectly with sophisticated dishes such as beef fillet, rack of lamb, game dishes, and aged cheeses. The wine's complex aromas and balanced structure harmonize perfectly with intense and flavorful dishes. Château Kirwan 2000 is an excellent example of a high-quality Margaux and offers an exceptional tasting experience for both collectors and wine enthusiasts.
