Parker about Château Haut-Brion 1982
Supple and enveloping, the 1982 Haut-Brion is drinking brilliantly today, wafting from the glass with aromas of red berries and plums, tobacco leaf, cedar box, scorched earth, cigar smoke and walnuts. Medium to full-bodied, broad and sensual, it's fleshy and giving, with a rich core of fruit, melting tannins and a long, resonant finish. At age 40, this is the most charming of the 1982 first growths, yet despite its outgoing personality, it seems to gain in stature with every passing year.

Château Haut-Brion 1982 is an iconic wine from the Pessac-Léognan appellation, one of the best vintages of the 20th century, characterized by its impressive structure and complexity.
On the nose, the wine unfolds a rich array of aromas of ripe dark fruits such as cassis, black cherries, and blackberries, complemented by subtle notes of tobacco, cedarwood, truffle, and a hint of leather. These aromas are deep and complex, indicative of the exceptional quality of the 1982 vintage.
On the palate, Château Haut-Brion 1982 displays impressive richness and density. The tannins are ripe and velvety, and the structure is perfectly balanced. The fruit flavors are intense and concentrated, supported by a lively acidity that gives the wine freshness. Nuances of dark chocolate, espresso, and mineral notes contribute to the complexity and give the wine additional depth.
The finish is long, elegant, and extremely refined, with a remarkable persistence of fruit and spice notes.
