Es kommt selten vor, dass die Herkunft eines Weines auf einen einzelnen Mann zurückgeführt werden kann. Brunello di Montalcino verdankt seine Existenz jedoch dem Erfindungsreichtum von Clemente Santi und seinem Neffen Ferruccio Biondi-Santi, die in den 1900er Jahren begannen, Sangiovese Grosso in Montalcino in Reinform zu vinifizieren.
Seit 1888, dem ersten Brunello-Jahrgang der Geschichte, produziert Biondi-Santi Weine, die für ihre Eleganz und außergewöhnliche Langlebigkeit bekannt sind.

Biondi-Santi - viticulture with inventiveness and passion Famous for their Brunello, the Biondi-Santi wine dynasty is considered an icon of Tuscan red wine. The traditional winery "Il Greppo" is located southeast of the town of Montalcino in the province of Siena. This is where the success story of Sangiovese viticulture originally began under the watchful eye of the founder of the Brunello wine tradition, Clemente Santi.
