Parker about Richebourg Grand Cru 1996
The 1996 Richebourg Grand Cru is drinking beautifully and might actually surpass La Tâche in this vintage; certainly, I have yet to drink a 1996 La Tâche as good as this particular bottle from Richebourg. Wafting from the glass with an inviting bouquet of plummy fruit mingled with wilted rose petals, peonies, exotic spices, orange rind and forest floor, it's full-bodied, fleshy and enveloping, with none of the vintage's tendency towards asperity in evidence, exhibiting melting tannins and a seamless, velvety profile. This is really beginning to show well today.

Goes well with

Richebourg Grand Cru 1996

The Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Richebourg 1996 is an outstanding vintage, renowned for its power and elegance. The deep ruby red color of this wine already hints at its density. On the nose, it unfolds complex aromas of ripe red fruits such as raspberries and cherries, accompanied by fine spice, earthy notes, and a subtle floral component. On the palate, it displays exceptional structure with powerful, ripe tannins and a fresh, lively acidity that gives the wine remarkable balance. The finish is long and complex, with hints of minerality and a touch of undergrowth that underscores the character of the Richebourg vineyard. The 1996 vintage possesses enormous aging potential and will continue to evolve over the coming decades, already demonstrating remarkable depth and finesse.
