Parker about Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese Magnum 2022
The 2022 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Auslese is clear, deep and dense on the clear and fresh as well as smoky but super detailed and saline nose. Rich and lush on the palate, this is a vibrantly fresh and savory, persistently saline and sustainable selection with a long, generous yet refined and mineral finish. It's very expressive and substantial. 8% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine from AP 17 23 in January 2025.

Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese Magnum 2022

The Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese from Joh. Jos. Prüm is a prime example of the elegance and depth of this legendary vineyard. The nose unfolds with a complex interplay of aromas of ripe peach, yellow pear, and candied citrus fruit, accompanied by delicate honey notes, white blossoms, and a subtle slate minerality. On the palate, the wine displays a perfect balance of ripe fruit sweetness and lively, precise acidity, lending it freshness and structure. The texture is silky and complex, with an impressive lightness despite the intense aromas. The long, multifaceted finish is characterized by exotic fruit hints, floral spice, and a subtle saline note. A great Riesling with outstanding aging potential that will gain complexity over decades.
