The 2022 Zeltinger Sonnenuhr Auslese (Long Gold Capsule) is super precise and refined on the finely flinty nose that shows highly elegant and well-concentrated but still very delicate fruit. On the palate, this is a generous, sweet yet delicate and refined, super concentrated and stimulating saline Auslese with a long and intense, finely concentrated finish that represents very fine botrytis berry and bread aromas. This is a spectacular Auslese that could have been sold as Beerenauslese as well, but in the end, it had too much Auslese character for the Prüm family: too filigreed, too digestible, too frisky. It will be a great and food-friendly wine in 10 or 15 years. 7.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine from AP 21 23 in January 2025.

The Zeltinger Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese Lange Goldkapsel 2022 from Joh. Jos. Prüm is a wine of exceptional elegance and depth. The nose unfolds complex aromas of ripe peach, dried apricot, and candied citrus fruit, accompanied by delicate honey and floral notes and a subtle mineral smokiness. The palate displays an impressive balance between ripe fruit sweetness and lively acidity, lending the wine freshness and structure. The texture is silky, almost weightless, with tremendous aromatic intensity and finesse. The long, multifaceted finish reveals hints of candied ginger, lime zest, and a salty minerality. An impressive Riesling with great aging potential that will continue to evolve for decades.
