Suckling over Champagne Collection (0.375l) 246
Restrained green apple, lemon bush and lime, plus light brioche and chalk. Medium to full body with fine, nicely persistent bubbles and good substance on the mid-palate. Almost biting yet polished at the end, with long, refreshing acidity. Lacks a bit of complexity at the moment, but fresh. Stuart Pigott Senior Editor

Champagne Collection (0.375l) 246

The Louis Roederer Champagne Collection 246 is the latest edition of the renowned Collection series and embodies the house's pursuit of precision and elegance. The cuvée is based on the 2021 vintage and is complemented by reserve wines from the "Réserve Perpétuelle" and wood-aged wines, giving it exceptional depth, structure, and complexity. In the glass, the champagne presents a brilliant golden hue with fine, long-lasting perlage. The nose reveals aromas of ripe yellow fruits, lemon zest, mirabelle plums, and floral notes of jasmine, accompanied by subtle smoky and spicy hints. On the palate, the Collection 246 impresses with a taut, lively acidity balanced by a silky texture and delicate saline nuances. The complexity of this champagne is evident in a long, elegant finish with fine mineral and slightly woody impressions. An exceptional champagne with depth and finesse, which shines both as an elegant aperitif and as an accompaniment to fine food.
